#4 Kids Art Workshop @Cox Science Center

The fourth art workshop for kids was organized as a pop-up at the Cox Science Center and Aquarium and hosted the center’s visitors, who were predominantly toddlers and their mommies at the time of our visit.

The program began with an introduction to the Trojan Rocking Horse project and the ancient Greek myth on which the concept is based. Then, the children worked with their parents and the workshop facilitators, architect Marco Casagrande and local collage artist Marie Glazier, to make assemblies that represent their dreams and their understanding of a Trojan Rocking Horse.

In the world of a toddler, the border between imagination and reality is blurred, and in their creative expression, they are not concerned with realistic representation. Instead, it’s about the sheer fun of doing an art activity, exploring the various elements, and discovering what they can make with them. Preschoolers are just starting to learn that art is a way to communicate ideas, so it was particularly interesting to see the designs they came up with, even with their skillset, attention span, and more or less help from their parents. We are especially proud that the youngest citizens of West Palm Beach will creatively stamp the Trojan Rocking Horse project.

The workshop took place on Wednesday, January 18 2023 at the Cox Science Center and Museum
