FINAL CEREMONY

Trojan Rocking Horses have been collecting citizens’ dreams for 5 consecutive days from March 6 to 10 2023, travelling through the streets and schools of West Palm Beach. Their mission is to deliver the dreams to the city government to help them better understand and serve their community. This handover was carried out in the Final Ceremony on March 10, 2023.

The 8 Horses rendezvoused at Nancy Graham Centennial Square where they were intricately decorated for their final march by artist Milena Arango.

Accompanied by children, the Horses made their final ceremonial walk down Clematis Street to West Palm Beach City Hall Square, where they were received by the head of the city himself - Mayor Keith A. James.

Project organizers and community partners addressed the public, shared their thoughts about this unusual project and thanked all the participants. Mayor James delivered a heartfelt speech, reminding of great changes set in motion when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. shared his dream. From hundreds of dreams that the Trojan Rocking Horses brought, Mayor James read some out loud. After, everyone was welcomed to gather around a community table and share food.

The celebration reverberated with pride from all the participants, especially the children – it is their dreams that inspired the designs of the Trojan Rocking Horses and, it was the children who were their foremost caretakers throughout the Downtown March. It was brilliant to witness how the spirits of grownups ignited and rejuvenated.

Freshly printed, special edition newspaper, documenting the Trojan Rocking Horse project was presented and handed out to the community. The newspaper – HUMAN, is available to read online – here.

Aside from newspaper, the process was documented in video format. Check it out!

Big THANK YOU to all of the organizers and participants!
