Dream station #5 - BE KIND

This Co-Design station was based on a dream that says - “My dream is to help the homeless live their lives like us and have an opportunity to have clothes, shoes, food, and have their family back together.”

Participants were able to dress up as their future self, whether that be a chef, doctor, cheerleader. Then we asked them - If the Dream Machine included a Dignity Unit, what can we include in the dignity unit to help those in most need?

This workshop was facilitated by our newest community partners Dress for Success and Laundry Love.

Dress for Success is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain safer and better futures. We provide each client with professional attire to secure employment, but we are much more than simply a new outfit. Dress for success also offers scholarships, a job readiness program, and a network of support.

Laundry Love washes the clothes and bedding of low/no income families and person(s) across the US. We brighten the lives of thousands of people through love, dignity, and detergent by partnering with diverse groups and laundromats nationwide. On their website they point out a sentence: “If I had clean clothes people would treat me like a human being.”

CO-DESIGN WORKSHOP

This co-design workshop was put together as the first response to the thought provoking dreams the Trojan Rocking Horses collected during their Downtown March through West Palm Beach at the beginning of 2023.

From the collected dreams an idea was crystalized to create a mobile community center – The Stable. As the design for the 8 Trojan Rocking Horses was based on creations the children made during workshops with architect Marco Casagrande and collage artist Mary Glazier, the design of The Stable should also be done with community input.

To harvest more dreams from our West Palm Beach community, the co-design workshop consisted of 8 immersive creative stations designed to let your imagination run free and create a record of it.

Each station was inspired by a particular dream gathered in the children workshops and Downtown March.

Big THANK YOU to all of the organizers, partners and participants!
